NOTIFICATION OF DATA BREACH – THE PALIN STREET FAMILY PRACTICE - 22 January 2025

We recently became aware that an unidentified cyber-criminal gained unauthorised access to our IT system and our database and subsequently executed a ransom demand on the morning of 28 January 2025. 

The ransom demand indicated we would be blocked from accessing our medical records until the ransom was paid, however this did not occur, and our system backups were not compromised. As a consequence, we have been able to rebuild our IT systems from the backup and fully restore the medical records of all patients. We have been working with our IT people to increase the safety of your data, and constant monitoring indicates that the data has not been published online.

We would like to reassure you that we take patient privacy very seriously, and this breach will be reported to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breach Scheme. All other relevant authorities, including the WA Police, have been notified.
